Parade,Tree Lighting, Santa Arrives Nov. 21

The Riverside Plaza will launch the 2008 holiday season with a festive parade, custom choreographed light and music show, falling snow, live entertainment and of course, Santa, on Friday, November 21.
The parade will kick off at 6 p.m. at the west end of the Riverside Plaza, near Chico’s and El Torito. An all-new custom light show that is synchronized to holiday music will illuminate the area, which will be further enhanced by falling snow.
Parade participants, which include Mayor Ron Loveridge, Ward 3 Councilman Rusty Bailey and his family, actress and local resident Christa B. Allen, Be the FACE 2008 Model Search Winners Teresa Aguila, Brandon Burkhart and Skye Velten, members of Riverside Children’s Theater and Dancer’s Studio, the Riverside Community College (RCC) Marching Tigers Band and Santa will follow a route that goes in front of Gottschalk’s, Active Ride Shop and Borders. The parade will reach its destination on Main Street in front of the 50-foot Christmas tree and Regal Riverside Plaza Stadium Movie Theater.
The RCC Marching Tigers will perform a Holiday Medley and VIPs Mayor Loveridge and Councilman Bailey will welcome the audience and introduce Santa Claus, at which time Santa will cause the tree to magically illuminate. All new for 2008, the Christmas tree will feature a spectacular light show that is timed to holiday music. Members of Dancers Studio will give a special holiday performance, to be followed by live holiday music by pianist Jonny May & Friends. Christa B. Allen, the actress who played one of the leads in the movie “13 Going On 30,” and who currently appears in the television series “Cake,” will be available for a meet-and-greet autograph session as well.
